The Beginning of God's Ministry ---

When I returned to Uganda, I had my vision. Philip McQueen asked me to work with him and I agreed --- We named the ministry "Mavuno Ministries". Our plan: Build a orphanage which would be run by Ugandan's, have a women's ministry with a women's center -- this would be run by me. Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails." God had a different plan and we were about to find that out.

In 2013 we began looking for property to purchase for Mavuno Ministries.  Our plan at that time was to build a guest house, a mission house and a safe house for children in need.  As we looked we traveled out into the village but nothing seemed to be right.  We had already established a small ministry in Tororo and we did not want to start all over somewhere new.  Besides we just felt God was not 100% behind any of the places we looked at.  We did look at some beautiful property with many acres but it just wasn’t right.

Finally Ronnie heard about a piece of property within Tororo area so we went to look at it.  There is no way to describe the peace we felt as we walked around this property.  It was just God!  Instead of the 10+ acres we had been looking at this was only 2 1/2 acres.  But it was the one!  We all knew it, we felt it and we just prayed that the price would be right and that no one else would grab it.  God faithfully supplied exactly what we needed to be able to purchase the property and the owner agreed to our price.

Joyce and I began discussing the possibility of starting a school late in 2012. Nothing came of it until early in 2013 when the new school year began. Joyce came home from a conference and declared it was time to start the school. She spent the weekend canvasing the area and finding children who were not in school because of lack of school fees. This was on Saturday --- on Monday we registered 29 students for our new school --- Mavuno Christian School. Joyce taught the baby class (3-4 years old) and I taught the middle and top class --- pre-school age. God's ministry had begun.
